Sometimes a corporate mission statement can seem distant in the day-to-day of it all, and then a patient reaches through it all and reminds you of why you do what you do. Case in point: my company’s mission is to: “Enable patients to obtain the right implant at the right price and right time to help reduce their pain and increase their mobility so they can return as quickly as possible to the activities that fulfill and sustain their lives.”
Fast forward to the Access MediQuip team recently receiving this note, excerpted as follows: “I have a need to send a big THANK YOU for your hard work in obtaining an approval for my implant. I realize this is not medical information, but it is a shiny star for your daily work in negotiating and navigating the complicated approvals. Many patients out there face limitations and barriers of various kinds. But by collaborating with a company such as Access MediQuip, we are able to bring down one more barrier to our daily life. Again, thank you and keep up the great work!”
I didn’t want to share the type of implant this particular patient has out of an abundance of caution for keeping personal health care information private, but suffice it to say that the patient is tough and courageous in the face of adversity. It’s what gets us out of bed in the morning, and I’m glad we could help!
